I have been breaking new ground for the past several weeks. I have made listings on Etsy, put a page on My Space and added to my own website in the last 2 weeks. Since I was born when the major form of communication was cave paintings this has been a edifying time. I have always depended on someone else to take care of the computer end of the business until now.
I have recently decided to put the proverbial toe in the water and learn a little more than where on the computer is the on button. I haven’t achieved much else in the last few weeks but I am learning. I hope to introduce myself and my business to you through this blog. Hopefully we can learn together.
Who am I? I am Barbara Russell, soapmaker extraordinaire, mother to 3 grown children, 5 grand-children, 1 cat, 1 dog and 1/2 dog. You will meet the 1/2 dog in this blog in the future. His name is T-Bone. We have great hope that he will grow into a whole dog some day.
Back to the soapmaking. I have been making soap technically for about 47 years. Now realistically, I have been making soap for 9.5 years. I was taught by my grandmother many years ago. The biggest difference in the soap that we made then and the soap we make now is my soap is made from all vegetable butters and oils and it is superfatted for your skin. Also, she make 2 kinds of soap. Castille for the body and hair: lard for laundry. I make about 65 different kinds of soap containing about 25 different oils and butters. This is enough for now I will introduce to my soaps and products AND T-Bone shortly.
